One Map Shows the Most ‘Distinctive’ Cause of Death in Your State

The two biggest killers in the United States are cancer and heart disease, but interestingly enough, each state has a distinct ailment or accident which affects its citizens.
This map, shared by LiveScience, is a result of a study done nationwide to determine the most unique killers in each state.

Let’s check ‘em out:

Some of the most unusual are:
  • Louisiana: Syphilis
  • Alaska: Boat and plane accidents
  • New Mexico: Legal intervention
There’s also Arizona, which lists “Discharge of firearms, undetermined intent” as its main cause.
