Medicinal Uses Of Camphor

The white crystalline camphor can be used to treat many health as well as skin problems. It is believed that camphor when dissolved in water can be really effective to treat respiratory problems. If mixed with a face pack, camphor can be really good to cure acne and other skin problems.

Cures cough: If you take camphor and water steam for 10 minutes, you can cure cough and cold. This is one of the most common medicinal uses of camphor. When you inhale the camphor and hot water steam, it forms a lining on the upper surface of the respiratory organs. This reduces the irritation in the throat and is an effective cure for bronchitis.

Cures neurodermatitis: Neurodermatitis is a skin condition in which the skin becomes itchy. People use camphor as a medicine to relieve skin itching and cure pain.

Fungal infections: Fungal infections occur in the toenails and skin. So, to reduce the infection, just dissolve camphor in water and apply on the affected area. This is a natural method to cure fungal infections.

An Ayurvedic cure for asthma, arthritis, rheumatism, and gout: This is one of the medicinal uses of camphor. The odour of the white camphor during inhalation is effective to cure respiratory problems like asthma and bronchitis. The paste of camphor when applied on joints relieves arthritis pain.

Acne: Many beauty creams and lotions have camphor as an ingredient. You can add small amounts of camphor in your face pack to get rid of acne and acne scars from the face. The antimicrobial properties of camphor removes excess oil from the skin.

These are few medicinal uses of camphor. Although it has many health benefits, it is advisable to use this ingredient in limited amounts. Camphor can at times have many side effects on the skin. If taken in large doses, camphor can cause irritation and seizures. So, test on a small area before applying all over your skin.
