Turmeric Cooler: The Juice that Can Save You from Buying Advil

Chronic pain is a problem for millions of Americans across the country, forcing many to resort to over-the-counter or even prescription pain pills just so they can function from day to day. Unfortunately, all of these pain pills come with a price: aspirin, for instance, can cause ringing in the ears and even damage the hearing, while NSAIDs like Advil can lead to serious stomach problems if used for too long. Stronger pain pills based on morphine can not only cause dependence but problems like constipation and respiratory distress. Fortunately, there are natural alternatives: read on to find out more about turmeric, one of nature’s best anti-inflammatory analgesics.

Why Turmeric Gets So Much Attention

Turmeric is probably one of the most-studied spices in the world, and the more modern science learns about it, the more truly amazing this spice is in regards to therapeutic value. It is believed that curcumin, one of the main active ingredients in turmeric, can help treat Alzheimer’s disease and prevent cancer due to its strong antioxidant properties.
And it is also a wonderful way to treat chronic pain. Many people do not realize this, but a lot of pain is caused by inflammation throughout the body, which is the body’s way of trying to heal itself. If inflammation can be treated, therefore, patients can experience a higher degree of comfort. And turmeric is one of the strongest natural anti-inflammatories in existence. As a matter of fact, in one study in which patients with arthritis took turmeric supplements versus an NSAID (like Advil), the patients taking the turmeric reported less pain and stiffness in the joints than those taking the NSAID – and all without side effects!
Although it is possible to take turmeric supplements, using the fresh root gives the fullest benefits. Below is a fantastic and easy-to-make juice recipe which takes full advantage of the healing properties of this amazing spice.
