US Embassy Removes July 4 Celebration Out of Respect for Islam

This is a story you have to see to believe.
At the US embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, American delegates celebrated the fourth of July one month early out of respect for the upcoming Ramadan month, which will begin on June 17 and last for one month.
In a mind-boggling gesture of official US Government dhimmitude, the US Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia celebrated our sacred Independence Day holiday on June 4, so as to avoid any conflict with the month-long Ramadan celebration.
If you think any Islamic countries – there are 57 of them (not counting ISIS) that count themselves officially Islamic – will move their DC embassy’s celebration of Ramadan to accommodate our Independence holiday, I have some bridges to sell you. …

Officially, embassies are the national territory of the country being represented, not of the host country. So there is no need to accommodate local sensibilities in celebrating our most sacred national holiday. …
This is a moment of national dhimmitude and deep shame.
There’s more on the story from Jakarta Post via Pamela Geller and Jihad Watch:
The United States Embassy enjoyed its annual 4th of July celebration on Thursday, June 4, one month early, in order to respect the upcoming Ramadhan month, which will begin on June 17 and last for one month.
US Ambassador to Indonesia Robert O. Blake and US Ambassador to ASEAN Nina Hachigian presided over the festivities, which involved brass band renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner and the Indonesian national anthem, Indonesia Raya.

Blake explained that the theme of the event leaned toward “green” development, which supported the US’ focus on building and promoting a green economy and more environmentally sustainable development.
He also praised Indonesia’s performance as a fully functioning democracy, aiming for further collaboration between the two countries in the years to come.
“The US will continue to support Indonesia in the future through its democratic achievements. Democracy is an American value which we have championed since [the country’s birth in] 1776,” Blake told the crowd during the festivities at his residence near Taman Suropati, Central Jakarta, on Thursday.
He added that moving the 4th of July celebrations to June 4 was one done out of respect for the upcoming Ramadhan month, which will last from June 17 to July 17. …
Conservatives keep asking if Islamic countries would ever return the favor by changing their calendar to accommodate US and western tradition. By doing so, conservatives hope to point out the hypocrisy of the recent move. But that warrants very little focus and is a waste of breath in my book. Who cares if Islam would consider doing the same? Each sovereign country is perfectly free to celebrate its own national holidays and religious observances in its own way, without asking leave of any other. What really matters is what the United States is prepared to do, and in this case, we’ve decided to once again demur our national identity in favor of international objection and a misplaced sense of political correctness.

  1. There is to be nothing left of the US national or cultural way of life, so as to make it easier for foreigners to come here and take whatever they want, kinda like now. The US has collapsed, this would never happen in a nation that had not been hollowed out and put on the imminent fatality list.
We might start to talk about taking it back and creating a nation in the place of this swamp, but then we have to wonder if it is even any longer worth it. What is the benefit of sitting and wasting time trying to save a country that allowed corruption, hubris, theft, murder, lies, and general mafia behavior to kill it?
Our wealth is gone, our health is under attack, our educational system is a joke, the justice system never was, media is a loud speaker for lies and our infrastructure is falling into terrible disrepair. If you peel back the thin veneer that is all that's keeping this corpse twitching you will see there is nothing left that has not been destroyed.
So this article is just no surprise at all, what United States?

As a Muslim, I can't see any respect or disrespect here. Is the Ambassador stupid or is he trying to send a message to people like Pamela Geller to go for full hate speeches? she calls first amendments right.

Do remember before you comment; Jakarata did not asked US Embassy to move the celebration date back and fourth. It is our dumbos who did it and most likely the Muslim will pay for all this BS.

This is USA High-jacked foreign policy. It had nothing to do with Muslim or Islam Jakarta or USA.

US back Taliban, brought down one of the most ancient Buddha in the world in the 90s. The Buddha was standing for centuries no Muslim thought of bring the it down.

Afghanistan considered it as part of their heritage and history but US brought it down with the help of Pakistani Taliban.

Also Ramadan is performance of prayer, not celebration.

Who the F cant use the same road for funeral and wedding? or it has to be on a different date. Oh My god. I guess the stupidity must goes on NOT life.

No one is actually telling you what makes it disrespect for Islam or Muslim.

Wake up America, they are taking you for a ride. Your country has been high-jacked and its been slammed on multiple countries. We Muslim hate the interference of your country'd high-jacked foreign policy. We never hated you nor your country nor you way of living.

The Muslim hate the wars that are brought upon them. Look at Iraq. Look at Libya, Syria and Crippling sanction on Iran.

Lat but not least. The writer is wrapped with American flag whom poses himself as "American Thinker". Didn't your founding father warned you of this?

"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross"

  5. What do we have to celebrate on the 4th. Seem to me it should be a day that we sit down during the holiday meal and discuss how we take back the country. Or a day that we hit the streets in protests and boycotts.

  6. This is not "respect" this is stupidity. Ramadan requires believers not to eat or drink from sunrise to sunset. At sunset, they pray and break their fast, half an hour after sunset they eat and drink (and often party) through the night.
All that was required was that the festivities begin 1 hour after sunset.
In terms of westerners, they are often (usually) offered refreshment during the day in the month of Ramadan. Of course it is polite to decline, and not put temptation in the way of the host. Hotels and offices provide refreshments in your rooms and not in the general public areas.
If they wanted to put on a day-light display to which you invite Muslims, then this should be held outside of Ramadan, but there is no reason not to celebrate July 4 on the day. A day-time party for non-muslims followed by an evening celebration for muslims, is how we celebrated holidays (Christmas, New Year) when they fell during Ramadan.
    PS why are you shouting?

  7. "Our wealth is gone, our health is under attack, blah blah blah and blame the foreigners.

They High-Jacked the wealth of USA back in 1911 under Woodrow Wilson. In his own statement, "He ruin his country to the system of credit". while you great grand daddy was celebrating Christmas.

Once you give your money to anyone, your done especially to the same people whom were kicked out of 109 countries but I guess you and your great grand daddy didn't know this.

Rothschild stated; Give me the nation money and care less whom makes the law.
Just because you didn't know all this why blame the foreigners.

  10. I wish the USA would show respect by not killing Muslims, at least in the month of Ramadan. How about stopping the deadly drone attacks against innocent civilians in the many Muslim countries that the US has 'liberated.'
