 Lolong, a one-tonne (6.4-metre) 21-foot saltwater crocodile believed to be the biggest to have ever been caught, pictured in a caged pen in the southern Philippine town of Bunawan. The giant crocodile was hunted over a period of three weeks; once he was found, it took around 100 people to bring him onto land.
 Trigger the Friesian bull is 6ft 5in tall and 14ft from nose to tail. The 1.2 ton family pet lives in a field in Kingswood, Herefordshire.
 This 861-gram male Cane Toad, measuring 20.5cm in length, is the largest to be caught anywhere in the Northern Territory of Australia. First released in Queensland from Hawaii in 1935 to control scarab beetles that were pests of sugar cane, cane toads have since multiplied and marched across Australia, poisoning millions of native animals.
 Dustin Bockman, a 27-year-old UPS driver, and his crew spotted this record-breaking alligator in the Mississippi River and trailed it for two hours before getting close enough to spear it. It took another two hours to hook it with a second line and noose its neck. The giant beast weighs 727 pounds (330 kg), and measures 13 feet (3.96 m).
 The Great Barrier Reef in Australia is the world's largest structure composed of living entities, stretching 1,200 miles (2,000 km). Although it contains many organisms of many species, some people cite it as the largest organism on the planet.
 Blue whales are the largest animals ever known to have lived on Earth. The largest specimen on record weighed 210 tons and was 98 feet long. There are less than 12,000 of the endangered species left in the ocean as it has been hunted to the brink of extinction.
 General Sherman tree, a Giant Sequoia in California's Sequoia National Park is the biggest tree in the world. It's 275 feet (83.8m) tall and the trunk alone is estimated to weigh over 1,800 tons.
An adult Colossal squid (Mesonychoteuthis hamiltoni) caught by New Zealand fishermen in deep ocean off Antarctica Februrary 22, 2007. This is believed to be the largest Colossal squid ever found, weighing around 450kg (992 pounds) and with rings the size of tyres. It was 33 feet (10M) long.
 A tarantula named poecilotheria rajaei has recently been discovered in Sri Lanka. The genus Poecilotheria is found only in India and Sri Lanka, and are known for being colourful, fast and venomous. The tree-dwelling poecilotheria rajaei has a leg span of 8 inches and is sufficiently venomous to kill mice, lizards, small birds and snakes.
 The Chinese Giant Salamander can grow up to 6 ft in length and is nearly blind. It is is the largest salamander and largest amphibian in the world, and lives in China and Taiwan.
 Keen angler Ian Welch (yellow shirt) gets to grips with the enormous freshwater stingray he caught on a trip to Thailand. The species can reach 1,300 lbs.
A Cambodian fisherman with a Giant barb or Siamese Giant carp (Catlocarpio siamensis) weighing 225 lb (102kg) and measuring 68 inches( 172cm) in Cambodia. Historic accounts report that the fish once grew to up to 3m and 300kg.
