10 Foods That Burn More Calories Than They Contain

There are a lot of ultra-low calorie foods out there you can eat, but did you know there are some that burn more calories than they contain? These can easily become foods that you snack on each day and lose weight with! By eating these calorie burning foods you will be doing your body and your diet a favor, so give them a try! Even if you’re not on a diet these are great to eat when you’re hungry for something light.

1. Celery


Most people are aware that celery is super low in calories, mostly because it’s loaded with water. As long as you don’t put any dips or peanut butter on this, it can be a snack that keeps you full and that helps you lose weight.

2. Grapefruit

This fruit is sweet and delicious, but it’s also very low in calories. Half of this fruit only has around 36 calories, and your body burns all of that just digesting it. Just make sure you don’t sprinkle this with sugar when you are ready to dive in.

3. Lettuce


Lettuce is another food that is high in water content and that also has fiber in it. You can enjoy lettuce as a snack or substitution for bread without having to worry about the calories inside of it.

4. Watermelon

With a high water content and sweet taste, this is a great fruit to enjoy when you want something that is nice and refreshing. It takes a lot of digesting to get this fruit through your body, so it’s a great fruit to consider eating.

Cauliflower tastes great raw and can be used in a number of different baked recipes as a substitution for high calorie ingredients. It’s also full of fiber as well as a number of different vitamins.

8. Apricots

Instead of reaching for a high calorie dessert, slice up an apricot to eat. This fruit tastes great and has a lot of essential nutrients inside of it. It’s a better choice than other fruits, so take advantage of it!

9. Peppers


Peppers are great to eat because they raise your metabolism and they can add a lot of flavor to your food without adding calories. Use peppers instead of dressings or oils and you will lose weight without sacrificing flavor.

10. Apples


Apples only contain a small number of calories and take a lot of effort for your body to digest. Try eating these instead of sweets and you will lose weight.
