Bekonscot
Buckinghamshire

The world's oldest model village, Bekonscot - in the Buckinghamshire town of Beaconsfield - portrays England during the 1930s.

Miniatur Wunderland
Hamburg

12,000 metres of track covering 6,400 square metres of floorspace. Features 890 trains, made up of over 11,000 carriages, 300,000 lights, 215,000 trees and 200,000 human figurines.


The attraction took approximately 850,000 hours of labour to construct, at a total cost of around 20 million euros.


It features a model railway, windmills, trams, piers, a cable car, castles, coal mines and a fox hunt.


LOXX
Berlin

Features Berlin landmarks and humourous scenes from everyday life. The train set covers 1,100 square metres and has 5,800 metres of track.


It also has coloured ceiling lights that dim and change to imitate sunset, night-time and dawn, as well as sound effects to recreate an occasional thunder storm.



Carnegie Science Centre
Pittsburg

The centre's minature railroad and village contains 250,000 trees, 14 aircraft, 85 automobiles, and 23,000 fans in a recreation of Forbes Field baseball arena.



Model Railroad Museum
San Diego

One of the largest model railroads in the world, covering 27,000 square metres.


Northlandz
New Jersey

50,000 ft (more than eight miles) of track, enough building material for 40 houses, 500,000 trees, 3,000 buildings, and a visitor walkway nearly one mile long.

The museum's Great Train Story exhibition contains 1,400 feet of track and 30 trains



Gainsborough Model Railway
Lincolnshire

Depicts the East Coast Main Line from Kings Cross to Leeds Central. Covers 2,500 square feet with over 1,200 feet of track.
