6 Surprising Effects Of Smoking

The effects of smoking are much wider than cancer and asthma. In fact, it goes much beyond the fabled impotency that men fear. Alcohol is usually spoken off in the same vein as smoking but there is a major difference between the two. Alcohol only effects your liver and to some extent, your central nervous system. 2. Smoking destroys the digestive system: The effects of smoking on the stomach and intestines is irreversible. The harsh toxins from cigarette erodes the lining of the stomach and does not allow the digestive enzymes to function properly. That is why, heavy smokers have trouble digesting food.

4. Smoking causes dehydration: Smokers should drink at least 2 more litres of water than normal people. This is because of the effects of smoking on the body's fluid balance. Smoking dries up the body from within. This manifests itself in the form of dry lips, dry skin and various urinary infections.

5. Smoking reduces energy levels: Most smokers give this excuse that smoking gives them energy to do night shifts or tackle late hours at work. But this is a lame excuse because smoking effects your energy levels at once. It reduces your lung power and when your lungs are unable to pump air, how can you feel energetic?
