Frustrated Professor Flunks An Entire Class For Being Jerks

Fed up with a class full of students he called "a disgrace to the school," Texas A&M Galveston professor Irwin Horwitz finally did what many teachers before him have threatened: he flunked the entire class.

After what he calls a semester full of disrespect, backstabbing, lying, and cheating, Horwitz said "Enough was enough."

He sent a lengthy email to his Strategic Management class explaining why they would all be failing the course, including incompetence and a lack of the maturity level needed to enter the workforce.
"“Since teaching this course, I have caught and seen cheating, been told to ‘chill out,’ ‘get out of my space,’ ‘go back and teach,’ [been] called a ‘fucking moron’ to my face, [had] one student cheat by signing in for another, one student not showing up but claiming they did, listened to many hurtful and untrue rumors about myself and others, been caught between fights between students…"
The tirade continues: "None of you, in my opinion, given the behavior in this class, deserve to pass, or graduate to become an Aggie, as you do not in any way embody the honor that the university holds graduates should have within their personal character. It is thus for these reasons why I am officially walking away from this course."

If Horwitz' story is true, some students surely knew this was coming. But others were totally shocked to find this email bomb in their inbox.

KPRC spoke with some students who say they were shocked to get the email. John Shaw, a senior, worries this could destroy his job hunting plans after graduation.

"Just ridiculous, I had never had a problem in the class. I thought I had done pretty well, done pretty well on the first test and then I get an email saying I am going to get an F in the class, it was overwhelming," Shaw said.

Fortunately for Shaw, the punishment won't last long.
A department head will take over the class until the end of the semester, according to school officials, and grades--based only on class performance--will be assessed at that time.

  1. It's hard to tell if the teacher is making things up or not, but it looks like the university is handling this appropriately by not reprimanding either teacher or students. If the students were behaving out of line, they've been given a wake-up call, and that's probably what they need.

  3. I have been a teacher for for higher grade schools, and then Process tech witch involves a wide range of toppics incl the fact everything is math.

And I suport Him all the way, this senario is what teachers expiriences this days, a monkey cage of youths whom dont give a shit about the teaching, and is more preocupyed with their stupid Ipads, and they cant even use the net, other than to chatt.
To do anything else, is virtually impossible, since their attention spann is messured in splitt seconds.
Of the classes I had, about 15 students, 2-3 was intressed, the rest, I dont know why they where there but somehow, people with a more academic eucation belives you can be a druling idiot and then they trow all into classes as Carpenter, and so on, the working class.
And then we have a result whitch is basicly a catastophe, where I almous flunged the entrie class since nobody bother to pay any attantion nor do anything substantial, they just dont bother to pay attention.
And of course they ruined the education for those few that was willing.

I think its wurse, than this, and I am writing from Norway and I can tell you its equally misserable in our land, but I dont blame the youth, I blame their parents, and nobody else, its not my jobb to rise their litle spoile brats, but to educate them.

And I havent begunn with the real reason for me dropping teachings, the insane amount of paperwork assosiate with the teachings, this alone eats up what litle I had left of wanting to teach.
So I to just quitted and havent looked back.
Il rather work in a kindergarden, than to work with the youths to day.
    I am not cynical anouf.

    peace
