Members of Congress charge $2,500 to sit with them at a Taylor Swift concert

For her summer concert in Washington, perhaps Taylor Swift can change her lyrics to: “I’ve got a blank check, baby, and I’ll write your name.”
Joining the screaming tweens in her D.C. audience will be politicians, and their deep-pocketed donors.
Sure, it costs less than $60 for the cheap seats to see Tay-Tay sashay at Nationals Stadium in July. But for just a little more money you can attend the concert AND sit with a member of Congress.
At least four lawmakers have planned fundraisers at her upcoming concert, according to two invitations obtained by the Loop and two by The Sunlight Foundation. For $2,500 a pop you can enjoy the show with Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wis.), Rep. Lois Frankel (D-Fla.) or Rep. Cheri Bustos (D-Ill.).
But! If you’re not partisan, and you’re looking for a bargain, you could always go sit in the Rep. Steve Stivers (R-Ohio) suite. He’s offering a discounted rate of $1,500 per ticket. And for $2,500, you can bring a friend.
You’ll be shaking it off, while getting shook down.
